Exciton Transistors Have Potential To Create Future Electronics

Last year, researchers at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland developed a new kind of transistor based on excitons. The cutting-edge technology is based on a special type of quasiparticle that could possibly be used in the future to make electronic devices smaller, faster, and more efficient. According to Digital trends, excitons, are made up of one electron and one electron-hole. Andras Kis, head of EPFL’s Laboratory of Nanoscale Electronics and Structures, said in a statement; “Linking several devices that incorporate this technology would give us a new way to process data,”
