How many hours do you spend on social media? Is your phone the first thing you look at in the morning and the last thing you see at night? How do you feel after browsing through Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook?
When I decided to start this channel, I knew that I would be even more engaged with technology and screens than I ever was before…which is kinda scary because I already use my phone A LOT! So I decided to do a little experiment for my mental health, disconnect for a bit, and find out exactly how addicted to advanced technology I really am.
– No smart phone
– No television
– No computer
– No iPad
– No GPS
– No satellite radio
– You get the idea 🙂
There are SO many benefits to having these incredible technologies, these tiny computers that we can easily slip into our pockets. But too much of a good thing…
So no, I didn’t throw my phone in the ocean after this experiment and try to go back to a “simpler” time. It’s amazing being able to connect with family, friends and fans at the touch of a button, and I didn’t do well enough in high school to not have google at my finger tips 😉 but this whole thing definitely gave me perspective on what technology, and especially social media, was doing to my mental health and my relationships, and now that I know it, I can do better at balancing the good with the bad. I highly recommend giving it a try for yourselves!!
