Blind Test // 1995-2000 UK Garage (Electronic Beats TV)

Our much loved Electronic Beats Blind Test series continues and this time round the focus is on the much revered UK Garage sound, a genre that came to prominence out of England in the early to mid nineteen nineties and is often driven by shuffled, syncopated rhythms, 2 Step kicks, big bass lines and cut up vocals.

Here stepping into the hot seat we’ve compiled an all star cast ranging from early pioneers of the genre through to some of the contemporaries bringing it into the future, such as Bristol based SWU.FM regular A For Alpha, Fabric resident and Rinse FM host Hutch, Shall Not Fade’s Ell Murphy, UKG pioneer Jeremy Sylvester, Local Action regular DJ Q and Dr. Banana, founder of the white label vinyl only UKG focused imprint of the same name.

As always follow along and see if you can guess the tracks yourself.

Please note this video is not filmed in real time. It’s edited to create some tension so that you in front of the screen can guess as well. It doesn’t say anything about how fast the participants recognised the track etc…

All contestants receive one point each for getting both artist and title correct and only half a point if they can only guess the artist or the title.
