Mattel Electronics Hockey 1978 Demonstration
A hands-on trial of the Mattel Electronics Hockey handheld video game from the late 1970s/early 1980s.
aha – TAKE ON FLYBACK TRANSFORMERS
Due to the great repercussion of an old task on the web, I decided to establish a Do It Yourself set of it, keeping in mind good performance, robustness, simpleness as well as low cost. Meet Easy-Flyback driver, it’s offered in my web site!
BTW, for those who did not understand what is going on this video, below’s a short description: The music truly comes from the high voltage electrical arcs. They are essentially playing the music due to the configured stage and also shooting frequency!

I want to give a special thank you to Mr Lurch’s Things who has been working to coordinate these videos!
I’m putting in some real effort to bring this thing back from the unfortunate state of decay that it is in. Fortunately none of the electrical issues I was concerned about seem to be that bad. In the next video we’ll see how it works when it is fired up for the first time!
