Stroll thru of the Kalamazoo Ham & antique Hamfest. Great deals of great antique radios & ham equipment. Not numerous purchasers. So, a great event if you were wanting to purchase, yet not so great for the vendors. I snagged a very nice Heathkit CW doubles terminal. Had one concerning 40 years back, while based at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Missed them, yet can never find one more clean operational collection. These worked best, plug & play. I intend to utilize them mostly on 40 meter band, 7.115 Mhz. Look for n6tlu calling CQ. Great deals of individuals going to obtain in front of the electronic camera this time around. I handed out 12 Hammared Ham glasses. Wished to do something various this time around. Everyone was pleasant. A terrific radio get-together. I would very recommend it if you have a possibility to go to a Hamfest. An excellent way to be presented to the leisure activity. We require new members! Hey everybody, Check out this video clip of the very same event! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmnBMns–KU
Walk thru of the Kalamazoo Ham & antique Hamfest. Lots of great antique radios & ham gear. Unfortunately, not many buyers. So, a great event if you were looking to buy, but not so good for the sellers. I snagged a super nice Heathkit CW twins station. Had one about 40 years ago, while stationed at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Missed them, but could never locate another clean operational set. These worked perfect, plug & play. I plan to use them primarily on 40 meter band, 7.115Mhz. Look for n6tlu calling CQ. Lots of people willing to get in front of the camera this time. I handed out 12 Hammared Ham glasses. Wanted to do something different this time. Everyone was friendly. A great radio social event. If you have a chance to attend a Hamfest, I would highly recommend it. A good way to be introduced to the hobby. We need new blood! Emi decided to take the video camera to shoot another Emi-Cam! I was not part of the shooting. She has been handling it all by herself. Yes I still do the editing, but will soon have her involved in that. My future goal is, she develops her own channel. That will all come in time. Look how far Emi has come in the electronic world. I have planted the seed, watching it grow! I started showing her this stuff back when she was 2 years old. So, you all have been there as she grew up. I believe she likes it, but who knows where her journey will take her. If she pursues Youtube, I’m sure her channel would be a hit. I’m leaving that up to her. We have set up a playlist for her unique videos. Emi-Cam. Check it out. Thanks for your support!
I intend to completely record the design & schematic. My hunch is a Harp player would certainly fall in love with it. We plan to participate in the summer occasion, so there is a lot more to follow.
See thevee.org. for more information on these events. This was the Winter session at Farmington Hills, MI in the Detroit area. What a super swap meet. So many classic pieces. Marcia and I had a great time. Shooting the video was a breeze. Everything fell into place. Normally I do not buy anything, however a retro guitar amp caught my eye. So, I figured why not. Glad I did as it turns out to be a very rare piece. So get ready for a refurbish series on the Premier 110. I plan to fully document the layout & schematic. And of course fully rebuild the amp. I love its style. My guess is a Harp player would fall in love with it. We plan to attend the summer event, so there is much more to follow. So, sit back, sip on your favorite beverage, enjoy the meet.
Repair tip to keep your Washing machine control board working. Easy technique utilizing NTE relay sub. The format of this repair demo is also handy for working on other type boards. D-lab electronics is offering more teaching / how to videos on Curious.com.
Another great event. I was there on the last day, so missed the action, however, it was still a great time with the vendors and attendees. I met some super people. Purchased a few items, just took in the sights. I love seeing/smelling the vintage electronics. It is in my blood. So, pour yourself a glass of wine, dim the lights, enjoy the show! To see future dates, see http://www.thevee.org. TD
Yes, a cool new addition to D-Lab’s testing capabilities. This unit is very rare. I was very happy to acquire it. DeVry Model 16004. It has all the features required for Tube radio troubleshooting and repair. Back in the day, it was utilized for training future radio technicians. My guess is it was never offered for sale to the general public. I plan to feature it in upcoming videos. If you have any info/schematics/manuals/ History, please let me know. I am very honored to have this fine piece in my collection. Hope you enjoy!
Spent the weekend at the 2018 Vintage electronics expo with Marcia and Emi (shortwave girl) Had a great time with friends. Met some new ones that subscribe to my channel. Of course the regulars were there, giving me a bad time. Always a good way to spend the weekend. Many nice antique radios, record players, test equipment and Ham gear. I picked up a few new pieces of gear. Some real nice ones for repair and presentations for you to see. This year the attendance way way down. Everyone was disappointed. Please check out the club and see if you can make it next year. Bring some young ones, so they can experience the hobby. The big Detroit event is coming up January. See: Thevee.org for more info.
