Also, they were constantly experimenting with odd tech like modular smartphones, dual-screen smartphones, and swivel smartphones. The real reason behind LG’s downfall is a lack of strong marketing and branding. They basically approached smartphones like they would approach a dishwasher or dryer. Aside from poor branding, LG’s constant experimentation made them known as the manufacturer with the gimmicks which ended up doing more harm than good. And near the end, LG got so focused on trying to garner more sales that they stopped supporting their existing customer base which put the nail in their coffin. South Korean technology titan LG Electronics posted its highest-ever yearly sales in 2015, however its earnings weakened.
The firm on Friday reported sales of around 83-point-4 trillion Korean won, or roughly 67-point-6 billion U.S. dollars.
This is up about nearly 13 percent from the previous year.
The surge was on the back of solid performances from its residence devices and electrical vehicle parts companies.
In terms of running revenues, LG saw an on-year reduction of 12-and-a-half percent to about 3-point-5 trillion won or practically 2-point-9 billion bucks.
This was because of a loss in demand amidst global inflation and climbing marketing prices.
LG reported a profits shock in the fourth-quarter with its operating revenues diving by over 90 percent from the year prior to.

South Korean tech giant LG Electronics posted its highest-ever annual sales last year, but its profitability weakened.
The company on Friday reported sales of around 83-point-4 trillion Korean won, or roughly 67-point-6 billion U.S. dollars.
This is up about nearly 13 percent from the previous year.
The rise was on the back of strong performances from its home appliances and electric vehicle parts businesses.
However, in terms of operating profits, LG saw an on-year decrease of 12-and-a-half percent to about 3-point-5 trillion won or almost 2-point-9 billion dollars.
This was due to a fall in demand amid global inflation and rising marketing costs.
LG reported an earnings shock in the fourth-quarter with its operating profits plunging by over 90 percent from the year before.

S. Korea’s Samsung and LG Electronics lead global TV market
삼성, TV 시장 16년 연속 1위…LG는 2위로 역대 최고 실적
South Korean companies were again the number one brands last year in the global TV market.
According to market research firm Omdia, based in London,… Samsung Electronics had the biggest share of the global market in terms of sales value… at 29-point-5 percent.
That marks 16 years in a row it’s been number one.
Its domestic rival LG Electronics came second… with an all-time high market share of over 18 percent.
The two companies leadership in the market was backed by robust demand for their high-end TVs the QLED models from Samsung and the OLED models from LG.
