“To align this encoder we lock up the motor by applying a positive polarity on U and a negative polarity on V. Then we adjust the encoder until the angle is correct for the given motor. For this motor it should read 150 electrical degrees. Once the angle is correct, tighten down the encoder. We always check one additional lockup position to confirm that we had selected the proper number of poles and the proper forward direction. For this motor the +U-W position should happen at an angle of 210 electrical degrees. The motor jogs to the next position which is approximately 210 (within a margin of error).
